Hey its my third day in la la land...yes that's exactly what it is! I had an absolutely eye opener of a meeting at the field centre yesterday...eye opener coz i didn't know that such stupidity and ignorance existed and got paid handsomely. Anyways its way too complicated to pen down in this blog...so i'll just skip all the meeting details...
I am more concerned about a statement i heard from a female while on my way to the field...Messrs La la land and sons provide us with Taveras for field visits. This flighty female was verry upset over one of our male colleagues having a pink comb...She said that pink is a 'feminine' colour...and everyone in the cab laughed, apparently at her great humour sense (i was feigning an open mouthed slumber at the time). That set me wondering about the sex of colours..do they have one?
My overactive though processes jumped to a shopping spree at a mall once. I had walked over to the children's sections to ogle at the latest Harry Potter stuff..and there the store was divided into two colours-the pink side for girls which had makeup kits, dolls, kitchen sets and the Blue side for boys which had cars, robots, puzzles etc.
Why do we divide colours on gender lines? I like pink and blue and black and red and white and green...i don't like pink on T-shirts, green on my walls, black on bedsheets and white on my head...but is this response to these colours gendered...I don't know. I don't think we should limit our children into exploring gendered colours...it blows up into such asinine comments and turns perfectly intelligent human beings into flighty giggly individuals. So i guess my open mouthed slumber parties in Taveras is going to continue! Wish me luck
